Sweet Bread Rolls

This recipe is based on the flachswickel recipe in the book that came with my mixer. The dough was too sticky to braid, so I made rolls. Like so many things, it goes very well with butter.

Ingredients:

150g butter

200ml whole milk

500g flour

7g dried yeast

2 Tbsp sugar, granulated or caster

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp ground cardamom

1 tsp vanilla bean paste

2 eggs

Instructions:

Melt butter with milk in a small saucepan

Whisk together dry ingredients in a large bowl

Combine all ingredients, knead on speed 2 of a stand mixer for 2-3 minutes until blended

Cover and leave to rise in a warm place for an hour

Divide the dough into 8 pieces, for 2 batches of four rolls

Put four rolls on a lined baking tray, leaving room, and let stand for 20 minutes

Bake 25 minutes, until golden brown

These are very good served warm, with butter or on their own
